Doug Canfield's (Language Resource Center) article, "The Best Class You've Never Been To: (Second)Life (Role)Play" has been published in Task-Based III: Expanding the Range of Tasks with Online Resources. Eds. L. Stone & C. Wilson-Duffy. International Association for Language Learning Technology, 2009. He also presented a paper at the 2009 Conference of the International Association for Language Learning Technology in Atlanta, GA (May 26-30) with Debby Lee from Educational Psychology entitled "Roadmap for Research: Navigating the Intersections Between CALL Research Foundations and the Future of the Field."


Oscar Rivera Rodas (Spanish) announces that Rodolfo Santana Salas (Venezuela, 1943), one of the most prestigious Latin-American playwrights, has accepted an invitation to participate and receive a tribute at the XVIII Jornadas Internacionales de Teatro Latinoamericano, to be held in Puebla, México, June 6-9, 2010.

Likewise, the distinguished poet Ernesto Cardenal (Nicaragua, 1925), a major poet of the Spanish language, will participate and receive a similar tribute at the V Jornadas Internacionales de Poesía Latinoamericana, Puebla, July 12-15, 2010.


Erin Czarra (BA, French), graduate student in the International MBA at the University of Memphis, has been selected by the U.S. Department of State to serve as a Foreign Affairs Campus Coordinator for 2009-2010. The position will include organizing events to familiarize students with the Department of State's mission and career opportunities, as well as assisting students who are interesting in applying for internships. In response to your suggestions, the Facilities and Equipment page (http://web.utk.edu/~mfll/LRC/facilities.html) now has links to access the schedule for rooms you may wish to reserve for your classes, as well as links to access webcams for each room to see if they are free (if you need to make a last-minute reservation).
