Shakespeare's Life and Times

William Shakespeare was born in the late 1500's in the town of Stratford-Upon-Avon. There is no official record of his birth, but records from the Holy Trinity parish church do show he was baptized on the 26 of April in 1564.
Shakespeare's parents were John Shakespeare, a local businessman and Mary Arden, the daughter of a wealthy landowner.
The only records of Shakespeare's education are that of his attending the King's New Grammar School in Stratford. There is no supporting proof that Shakespeare attended Oxford or Cambridge. Records do show that he married Anne Hathaway in November of 1582.
Shakespeare eventually moved to London to begin his career as an actor and playwright.
