arco NEH Challenge Grant
In 2003, the Marco Institute for Medieval and Renaissance Studies was the recipient of a prestigious National Endowment for the Humanities Challenge Grant of $3 million. The grant required that we raise $2.4 million by the middle of 2008 in order to receive $600,000 in NEH matching funds. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, we were successful, and the resulting $3 million has become the Marco endowment and will provide an annual budget for our use.
Marco has grown dramatically since receiving the NEH Challenge Grant in 2003, and many ongoing initiatives and new programming are not yet supported by the endowment. We are actively seeking to raise an additional one million dollars in the next three years to support graduate students and enhanced program offerings.
