Episode Summary :
Part 1
"This is the embassy of the tiny country of Baklava. It serves as the shrine of the Golden Spider God. It is worshipped by the Baklavians. For it remains a force of peace, although they are surrounded by warring powers."
Our story opens as Lori and Judy and another reporter are questioning a monk about the Golden Spider. Though silent for most of the interview, he does say that the spider is priceless to those who believe. Lori and Judy are summoned to Electrabase by Frank and leave the embassy followed by the other reporter who ducks down a side hallway. She turns out to be the villainess Spider Lady, a master of disguise.
Back at Electrabase, Frank unveils his latest invention... Electra-X, which allows a person to see through items, but more importantly, Frank tells our heroine that the Spider Lady is back in town. Electra Woman deduces that it is no coincidence that Spider Lady is in town the same time the Golden Spider is there. So our heroines race back to the embassy.
Meanwhile in Spider Lady's hideout located far below the embassy, Spider Lady sets a trap for the heroines. The bait is the Golden Spider but Spider Lady has far more deadly spiders waiting for Electra Woman.
"Arriving at the embassy, our heroines cautiously approach the enterance."
When they enter, using Electra-Scan, they find Leggs and Spinner waiting for them on the other side of the door. Upon being discovered the henchman take out in different directions, splitting our duo up. Dyna Girl easily captures Spinner, but Leggs proves to be more elusive to capture. When he is finally cornered by Electra-Woman, Spider Lady springs her first trap on Electra Woman tangling her in a giant spider web (which looks nothing like a bunch of rope).
"A tangled web indeed, Electra Woman is unable to reach Electra-Comp and seems at the mercy of the Spider Lady."
"Electra Woman is trapped in Spider Lady's web."
Spider Lady tells Electra Woman that she has special plans for her. Electra Woman uses this time to reach her Electra-Comp and use it to free her from the giant web. After checking in with Dyna Girl, she continues the chase of Spider Lady down to her lair.
Inside the lair, Electra Woman confronts Spider Lady with the intent of using her Force Shield to capture her; however, Spider Lady is able to turn the tables and use the force shield on Electra Woman. Spider Lady tells the captured heroine that Electra Woman will steal the Golden Spider for her. Electra Woman tells her that nothing could make her do that. Spider Lady brings out her "pets" an assortment of very deadly spiders. But her plan isn't to scare Electra Woman into stealing the idol. No, she uses her Xerograph, her ultimate duplicating machine, to turn herself into an exact copy of Electra Woman! She not only looks like her, but talks and acts like her as well.
Spider Lady, herself, will not only steal the Golden Spider and capture Electrabase, but will also destroy the reputation of Electra Woman in the process. However, it won't matter as the immobilized heroine has to deal with very hungry spiders coming after her. And the disguised Spider Lady heads off to find Dyna Girl.
Finding Dyna Girl with Leggs in tow, Spider Lady easily fools her into thinking she is the real Electra Woman and tells her they will have to let the henchmen go, as they haven't done anything wrong. She then suggests that they need to head back to Electra-base, with Dyna Girl driving Electra-Car. Though surprised, Dyna Girl follows orders and leads Spider Lady directly to Electrabase for the next part of her plan. Electra Woman is left alone trapped with the hungry spiders making their way towards her.
"As the unsuspecting Dyna Girl races towards Electra-Base with the cunningly disguised Spider Lady, the spiders are moving ever closer to their prey. Will our superheroine manage to escape the trap?"
Part 2
Dyna Girl and Spider Lady arrive at Electra-Base. Spider Lady is overwhelmed at the sight of the base, but manages to keep the charade up, even after mistakeningly calling Frank's new invention "Electric-X." She quickly corrects herself and Frank gives her the version for her Electra-Comp. Spider Lady purposely drops the device and kicks it behind Crimescope. In the confusion of looking for the device, she manages to place a bomb on Crimescope without Frank or Dyna Girl's knowledge.
"And so it seems Spider Lady's plan is going much too well, as she plants her destructive spider device behind Crimescope. While back at her hideout, the hungry spiders move closer to their prey."
But back at Electrabase, Frank attaches a spare version of the Electra-X to Dyna Girl's Electra-Comp. She begin to use it on Spider Lady, but Spider Lady convinces the pair that it might not be good to use it before it is completely perfected. Before Frank can protest, Spider Lady says that the need to quickly get back to the embassy to protect the Golden Spider.
At the embassy, the spiders move closer and begin crawling over Electra Woman's boots. She still holds out hope that even if Dyna Girl can't see though Spider Lady's disguise there is still Crimescope.
"Back at Electra-Base, Hefflin remains unaware that Spider Lady has left another evil spider to do its dastardly work."
In front of the embassy, Dyna Girl and Spider Lady arrive. Spider Lady instructs the younger heroine to stand guard outside and wait for her and to be careful, because Spider Lady could be anyone. Inside the embassy, she tell the monk that there has been a threat made against the Golden Spider and that she must move it to a safe location. The monk gives Spider Lady the Golden Spider.
"It seems Spider Lady will have succeeded in two places. Because, at that very moment..."
The spider device planted in Crimescope detonates. Franks stands by helplessly as Crimescope starts experiencing a series of small explosion. At the embassy, Dyna Girl is only able to recieve the message that Crimescope has been sabotaged before losing all power! Dyna Girl is shocked that someone could have gotten to Crimescope. But then she starts putting the pieces together about Electra Woman's odd behavior and figures out that she must really be the Spider Lady in disguise. She wonders where the real Electra Woman is.
"And so the Spider Lady has put Crimescope out of commission. But what about Electra Woman held captive in the force shield of her own Electra-Comp?"
And thus we come to the fatal flaw in Spider Lady's master plan. The force shield she is using to hold Electra Woman is dependent on the power from Crimescope. When she cut off Crimescope, she also cut off power to the force shield, freeing Electra Woman. Leggs and Spinner think better than to tangle with her so they retreat hastily. Up above, Dyna Girl confronts Spider Lady with the Golden Spider and asks her where the real Electra Woman is; Spider Lady does her best to try to convince her that she is Electra Woman.
"Electra Woman franticly searches for Dyna Girl!"
The real Electra Woman appears behind the phony one and Dyna Girl must figure out for sure which Electra Woman is the real thing. Without the use of the "Electra-X" she ask both of them what Frank's middle name is. At that moment, Spider Lady's disguise wears off and she reverts back to her normal self and takes off with the Golden Spider.
Back at Crimescope, Frank is able to get limited power online and supply the heroines with limited functions. As they give chase, they run into a little old lady carrying a package, they realize moments later that she was probably the Spider Lady. They return and use the Electra-X to discover that the old lady is really the Spider Lady. Using their force shield, the heroines retrieve the Golden Spider and return it its rightful place. In the meantime, Spider Lady disappears into an elevator.
Electra Woman and Dyna Girl head outside and Electra-Degravitate to the roof where they capture the Spider Lady. And land the cover story on Newsmakers Magazine.
DynaGirl's Thoughts:
People really seem to love the Spider lady.. its on the tips of Electra fans everywhere. It took me a long time to get a copy of this. and it was worth it (Thanks MadEdric!) The Spider lady is played real well and her plot is nothing short of fun to watch. Deidre Hall does a good job playing as someone playing at being Electra Woman. I have to say this is the first time I saw Ms. Hall as anything but aloof and cool in her role. This episode went back to the regualr formula of odd villains.. far out names (country of Baklava..mmm) all in pursuit of the golden spider.. and of course my favorite line in the show.. "But you never let me drive Electra-car!" we side kicks get no fun..
