Using JMP to do Individual Confidence Intervals for the Differences of Two Treatment Means
One Way Layout - Completely Randomized Design

Ramón V. León

We use the fiber example in Chapter 3 of the textbook. In particular we do Example 3-3 on Page 79.

We can calculate individual confidence intervals for the difference of two treatment means by noting that Formula 3-13 on Page 78 of you textbook can be written as

(Dif-LDS, Dif+LDS).

Thus, for example, the confidence interval for difference in treatment means between 15 and 25 percent cotton is

(-5.6 - 3.74542, -5.6 + 3.74542).
