Proceed as follows to obtain the simple regression equation:
Select Fit Line for the triangle menu next to Fitting to get:
Compare the results with that on Page 92 of your textbook.
To calculate predicted values based on the regression line proceed as follows. Select "Save Predicted" from the triangle menu next to Linear Fit. If the values of X for which you want the prediction to be made is not one of the original X values enter these values in the JMP data table leaving the Y column blank. The prediction will be given as a new column called Predicted Values in the JMP data table.
