Open the retailfood JMP data table.

To select a random sample of size 50 select column prod3 by clicking on top of the column:

Select Subset from the Tables menu:

You will get the following dialog box. Fill the dialog boxes as indicated and click OK:

You will get the following JMP data table containing the random sample:
