4. None 5. I do not attend the lectures because I find CourseCompass and
the class blog to be enough help. 6. The value I get from them is reinforcement of what's going to be
on the exam. That way, when I go to
read the book I recognize key words that were said in class. However, a lot of the times I opt to just
read the blog/book rather than attending class. 7. The lectures I do attend are pretty interesting, but the
technology provided in the class is what allows me to not attend the classes.
This technology is very valuable in itself. It makes it very convenient for
me. If it wasn't for the tests on Tuesday, I probably wouldn't make it to
most of the lectures. 8. They would be made more valuable because everything would
already be imprinted in my brain while I'm studying for the tests, it would
make studying easier. 9.
I never attended lectures. I did
my homework each week and attended review session. This was the time
efficient way to learn and worked perfectly. Also, the book is useless and
was a total waste of my money. 10.
I
usually did not attend them. 11.
I
like it when you show how something relates to the real world and not just
the academic world. 12.
The
lectures are good at times and I actually think you are real funny but
sometimes I think you go on and on about things that do not pertain to the
class and that’s why most people don’t attend the lectures. And all the
information is in the class blog and book. 13.
I
stopped attending the lectures because I felt that what we learned in class
was different from that in CourseCompass and the weekly exams. I think you
should do more examples to lead by example. 14.
I
attended the lectures for a few weeks but found them to be very unhelpful.
You need to break the information down and be clearer during your
presentation. For example, my first Math 125 teacher was not good for
me. He taught straight from the book,
used a lot of terminology that was unnecessary, was very verbal in his
teachings, and had complex processes. My second teacher was great, she broke
the processes down into simple steps, every time, even if we had learned the
steps in a previous chapter, she explained it again because sometimes we
forget. She explained the concepts to use in layman terms and tried to make
it easy. Your class is unnecessarily difficult. Don't make things harder than
they need to be. 15.
The
lectures sometimes help. Sometimes they are not helpful as you sometime talk
too much about something not related this course. 16.
I don't get much value from your
lectures 17.
I
have been to a couple. do not help any. 18.
Listening
to you discuss the chapter slides helps me tremendously. 19.
I
do not usually attend the lectures. I learn everything I need to know from
CourseCompass, the book, and blog, and the study sessions. 20.
I
do not attend lectures. 21.
I
do not attend them 22.
I
think you need to move a little faster in your lectures. Sometimes we did not
cover the things in class that we needed to for the homework on
CourseCompass. 23.
Your
lectures explain the concepts and sometimes you even give real world
applications. To make them more
valuable I would have them flow smoother and that may mean removing some of
the technology used, like the whiteboard. 24.
Be
confident in your knowledge and don't worry so much about what we think of
how you are doing. I do attend lecture, and I benefit more from your
presenting the material and working problems in a traditional lecture style. 25.
I
attend most of the lectures and going over the notes in class is incredibly
helpful. 26.
Just sitting to listen and do
physical interaction cannot be compared with any other way of learning. I
love using other methods only as complementary. 27.
Just
a general knowledge of where Stats can be applied to various situations. I seem to get a practical knowledge of
Statistics when I attend class as opposed to a bare-bones education by just
attending the Study Sessions and reading the blog. 28.
I
do not attend 29.
I
learned more by the resources than the lectures. I went but stopped because I was making
good grades on the exams without the lectures. 30.
They
are pretty valuable 31.
I
watch the lecture recordings on Thursdays and stay until the break on
Tuesdays. 32.
I did not attend enough classes to
respond but I did get enough knowledge out of the review sessions, CourseCompass
and the book. 33.
The
lectures helped getting an idea of how to understand what was going on with
all the math. It also allowed me to understand how to interpret the wording
used in homework problems. 34.
Did
not attend often. 35.
Difficult
concepts that are not understood from the book or blog are explained in an
understandable way at the lecture. 36.
I
attended several lectures and learned more when examples were being used and
slowly talking through the problem, but I also learned a lot from other
teaching aids. 37.
I
learned the material through the book, CourseCompass, the blog, and the
review sessions. 38.
The
value I get out of the lectures is that I get to hear the concepts explained
in a different way from the book and sometimes it takes that extra
explanation for the concept to "click" in my brain. I feel rather
lost when I rely only on the technology. 39.
I
learn a lot from the blogs. 40.
There
may be moments when the instructor or TA offers simple clues to look out for
when doing problems. This can be very important when trying to interpret
problems. 41.
You
doing problems on the board 42.
I
have attended some where the material looked daunting, yet the other mediums
were plenty for this elementary level statistics class. 43.
The
lectures are useful in seeing examples of material that will be later
repeated on exams, otherwise students will have to assume the book and
CourseCompass are to be expected for exams. 44.
I
did not learn much from the lectures. 45.
Since
I have taken the class before I have had similar lectures and it’s a lot
easier for me to do things hands on instead of just getting multiple
definitions that take a while to sink in and understand before moving onto
the next topic. 46.

Use
online recordings 48.
I
attended most lectures and it has been hard keeping focus for two hours. I would suggest doing more examples and
keep the slides available to be printed off for class like you did for this
summer session. 49.
