What exactly does Phil do that makes you like his help
sessions so much?
|
1. He goes step by step through the
problem. Quite honestly, it's easier
to understand Phil. Not just from a
purely linguistics standpoint but he also strays away from using words that
are unnecessary to the actual learning.
He also tells us what is the most important and what things we
actually need to know. |
|
|
2. He tells you almost everything that will
be on the exam, and it helps you make a good grade on it |
|
|
3. He's much focused on the problems and
works a lot of examples. Also he explains them well. |
|
|
4. He is straightforward about the
material. |
|
|
5. He uses the whiteboard and lectures
without a PowerPoint. Technology is distracting and wastes a lot of time. |
|
|
6. He answers questions and goes over the
blogs |

7. Phil is very personable and very clear
in his explanations. Phil's use of the
board, specifically in showing step-by-step solutions, is really
helpful. It is easy for technology to
create a barrier between a professor and students and Phil does a good job of
transcending that barrier. 8. He is very open to questions… and gives
us good advice about what to look for on the test. 9. He explains everything well and is
straight to the point 10. It is his personality 11. He is just a good straightforward guy
who knows his stuff. He covers material slowly and accurately and is able to
field any question. 12. Clear talker. Good Teacher.
Understandable. Tries to do a good job. He just needs more time. 13. He is easily to understand and he tells
you exactly what kind of problems to know how to do. 14. Clear talker. Good Teacher.
Understandable. Tries to do a good job. He just needs more time 15. He explains stuff simply. 16. He is very effective in teaching the
subject matter. 17. He provides them. 18. He is very good at answering questions
and offering alternative explanations. 19. He works out examples and is able to
explain them in a way that makes it easier for us to understand. He explains the
steps in simpler matter, rather than being too complex. 20. He speaks clearly and gets to the point.
There is no nonsense that he talks about like Dr. Leon does. 21. He explains things very well, and he
wants the students to learn. He also
does a great job of detailing all the steps in a problem. 22. He uses examples that are similar to the
homework and tests. 23. He is very good at explaining things in
a concise and to the point manner. 24. He teaches a very complex concept in a
simpler manner. He makes statistics a lot easier to comprehend 25. I believe he gives us exact information
we need for exam. It makes it more appealing 26. He tells us the things that we need to
know for the exam 27. Explains everything to us until we
understand. If we don't understand one explanation then he explains it from
another similar scenario. 28. He explains everything clearly if I did
not understand it before and give examples. 29. More easily understand, more directly to
exam 30. Works out the problem 31. He uses examples and writes the
questions on the blackboard. He gives good explanations. 32. Phil explains everything really clearly
and gives many examples and works problems that we have. 33. He is to the point about what we need to
know 34. He teaches on a level that makes it
simple and explains each step. It is a good visual to see it being worked out
on the board. And going through more of the problem than the concept of it. 35. He is very thorough in explaining
everything. He also does not waste
time covering stuff that we will not need to know ever and gets right down to
it. 36. Phil does a great job with describing
material in a way that we can understand and he also knows what will probably
give us more trouble. 37. Explains everything and shows how to do
problems 38. Clearly explains what the important
things to look for are and explains how to do everything correctly. 39. He gets straight to the point about the
information. He's brief, but efficient in his explanations. 40. Being able to avail him and listen to
us. 41. He hits just the high points, i.e. this is
the concept, this is how you work it, or how it works, this is a good thing
to remember, etc., next... 42. He explains in depth and is easier to
understand in some ways. 43. Clear explanations 44. First he asks if there are any specific questions
on any material. Once those questions are answered he basically goes back
over the class blog and reviews all of the important points of interest. 45. Phil knows how to teach something
complicated without being complicating. I really have enjoyed Phil's help and
his personality. 46. For me, I like the help sessions with
Phil because I have never had a class do that and it is a luxury to have
it! Also, I think people may feel more
comfortable asking Phil questions because he isn’t intimidating and we don't
care as much what he thinks of us like some do with Dr. Leon. 47. He is very direct and presents the
material in a practical and easy-to-understand way. 48. Would go over every aspect of what was
needed. |
