Stat 567: Statistical Reliability
Downloading JMP files

Mac Users:

The Mac JMP files used in classroom examples and homework have been compressed (Using StuffIt) and then binhexed. To download these files all you have to do is click on the download button. A binhexed and StuffIt copy of the JMP file will appear on your browser's download folder.

The easiest way to debinhexed and decompress the file on a Mac is use StuffIt Expander as a web browser helper application. As an example, this is the way my copy of Netscape 3.0 has been configured:

Configured as above, Netscape will place the debinhexed and unstuffed JMP file on your download folder ready for use with JMP.
StuffIt Expander is available for free from Aladdin Systems, Inc. (408) 761 - 6200
The new Mac in the Department's computer room has been so configured. On that computer, all you have to do is to click on the download button and a JMP file will appear on the desktop.

JMP for PC Users:

You can proceed two ways:

Download JMP files for PC directly

Those of you who have access to a Mac configured as above can proceed as follows:

Download the Mac file to a Mac configured as above. Copy it to a PC diskette using the Mac diskette drive (PC Exchange should be installed). Then take it to a PC that has JMP for Windows installed. You can then open the Mac JMP file in the diskette from within JMP for Windows. (Make sure you have "show all files" selected.) JMP for Windows will translate the file into a JMP for Windows file.

You can do this operation with the new Mac and the PC behind it in the UTK Statistics Department computer room.
