Download and Open the following JMP file:
Notice that Group is a Nominal variable.
Go to the Analyze Menu and select Fit Y by X:
Complete the resulting dialog box as follows:
Click OK. Select Means/Anova/t Test from the red triangle pull down menu:
After scrolling down you get:
Compare the bottom Unequal Variances results with those
of Example 7.11 and those of Example 7.12.
The results differ a little because the book and JMP are using
different degrees of freedom.
JMP uses the Scatterthwaite appoximate degrees of freedom covererd
on Page 471 of your textbook.
