Download and open the following JMP file:
With the control key pressed, click on the four rows where
there were zero Credit Card Items.
(Rows 4, 17, 21, and 23)
This action selects these rows.
Go to the Rows menu and Exclude these rows:
Proceed as in the Least-Squares Regression Line tutorial, and make Gross Credit Card the Y, response, and make Credit Cards Items the X factor:
Select Save Residuals from the red triangle drop down menu next to Linear Fit:
This adds an extra column to the JMP data table with the residuals:
You can also select Save Predicteds from the menu to get the predicted values:
You can now proceed as in the Scatterplot tutorial to get:
