Download to your desktop the following Excel file containing the Firestone Tires data:
Open the file in Excel; just to become familiar with its content:
Close the file and if you wish, exit Excel.
We are going to import this Excel file into JMP.
Start JMP which will open the JMP Starter Window.
(If you already have JMP open, select JMP Starter from
JMP's View menu.)
Click on the Open Data Table button. You will get a dialog box, similar to the following:
Navigate to the Desktop (or wherever you saved the Excel file)
and change the File of Type box to Excel File (*.xls).
(You may need to scroll down in the Files of type text
box to see this option.)
Click on the ExcelExample1.2 file. This will place this file name
in the File name box:
(Notice that my computer is set up to show the file extension, in this case .xls. Most computer are set up so that the file extension does not show.)
Click Open. You will see the following dialog box:
Select the Raw Data work sheet. Click OK.
This opens the following JMP data table:
