JMP Tutorial:
Bar Chart


Make sure that JMP is installed in your computer.

We are going to do the bar chart of Example 1.2, Page 6 involving the Firestone tires.

Click the link below and save the JMP file to your Desktop.

In Microsoft Internet Explorer, you will click on Save in the following dialog box:

Now go to your Desktop and double click on the JMP file named Example 1.2.
This action will start JMP and display the content of this file:

Now go to the Analyze menu and select Distribution:

You will see the following dialog box:

Click and drag the column "Tire Model" under Select Columns to the "Y, Columns" box.
Click and drag the column "Count" under Select Columns to the "Freq" box.
The result is as follows:

Click OK:

You can clean up this output by going to the red triangle pop up menu next to Tire Model
and deselecting Mosaic Plot:

The Mosaic Plot will disappear:

You can copy any of this output and paste it into another application, such as Word or PowerPoint:

To do this, go the Tools menu and select the Selection tool:

This will change the cursor from an arrow to a cross.

Click on the part of the JMP output that you want to copy to select it:
(You may need to click several times in different parts of the output with the Shift key down to completely select what you want.)

Go the Edit menu of JMP and select Copy:

This will place a copy of the items you selected on the Windows clipboard.
You can then paste the items into a Word or PowerPoint file as was done below:

 If your are going to keep using JMP make sure that you go back to the Tools menu and select the default Arrow tool:
