Welcome to the Legal Studies Program!

The Legal Studies Program has been eliminated from the 2008-9 and subsequent academic catalogs.  It is therefore not available as a major for students entering UT during the 2008-9 or subsequent academic years.  Students already declared as Legal Studies majors will be able to complete their degrees.  And students governed by the 2007-8 or earlier academic catalogs may still declare themselves to be Legal Studies majors.  No difficulties are anticipated in servicing those students governed by an academic catalog under which Legal Studies is an available major.

Existing Legal Studies majors will continue to be advised by their current faculty adviser (e.g., John Scheb of Political Science or David Reidy of Philosophy).  Students declaring themselves Legal Studies majors after August 1, 2008 (and only students governed by the 2007-8 or earlier academic catalogs may do so) will be advised through the College of Arts and Sciences Advising Center.  They should contact Catherine Anderson in that office.

As of August 1, 2008, the Legal Studies Program has no official "Chair."  The program will be administered through the Dean's office of the College of Arts and Sciences.  Students with petitions needing the signature of the program chair or having other program related needs should contact RJ Hinde in the Dean's office.
