About Law Women
Mission and Goals
Law Women’s mission is to emphasize and address issues of
concern to women within the legal profession and academic community.
Law Women strives to:
- Raise awareness of issues related to women’s participation
in the judicial system;
- Promote career opportunities for women within the legal profession;
- Act as a forum for networking with attorneys and other legal
professionals; and
- Coordinate activities within the university community that address
issues of concern to women.
Law Women accepts members—both male and female—who
are committed to advancing these goals. For more information on
how to get involved in Law Women, see Opportunities
for Involvement in Law Women.
Community Service
Law Women is dedicated to community service and actively fundraises
for numerous charitable causes. Over the past few years, Law Women
has contributed to Toys for Tots, Global Fund, Race for the Cure,
and Race Against Racism, among many other causes. Law Women also
takes a nonpartisan political stance by encouraging women to vote
and otherwise participate in the political system. For more information
about Law Women community service events, see Law
Women Events.
Social Events
Law Women organizes numerous social events per year, most of which
are open to the entire College of Law Community. Past events have
included first-year-student mixers, football tailgates, chili cook-off
competitions, wine tastings, and Law Women luncheons (typically
held after meetings), among other events. Law Women also participate
in community events that align with Law Women’s goals. For
more information about Law Women social events, see Law
Women Events. |
