Meeting Begins: 6:10p.m.



Icebreaker and Introductions

President:

The LGBT commission is currently making greater progress in their efforts to insure rights for gay, bisexual, lesbian, and transgender students through the non-discrimination policy. If you would like more information, please see Amy Davidson.

Vice President:

There will be a RES Board meeting tentatively scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m. Please pay attention to your e-mail as this may be subject to change. If you would like more information about the committee, you can contact Amanda Liverseidge aliverse@utk.edu.

Treasurer:

If you have not already paid your dues for the semester, please do so as soon as possible. Dues are $10 and help fund all endeavors.

Political Coordinator:

There is interest in starting a campaign with campus police on the subject of sensitivity training. If you have any ideas or would be interested in working on such a campaign, please contact Rachel LaRue.

Secretary:

Historian:

Social Coordinator:

We will be having a movie night at Amy Davidson's apartment on Tues, Feb. 12, 8:30 p.m. Please contact Amy if you would like directions or need a ride to the event. You can call reach her at (731) 499-2179.

Sabrina Sojourner:

There will be another committee meeting this Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 5: 15 p.m. We will be meeting in the Starbucks in Hodges Library. We will be discussing designs for the flyers and the advertisement to be featured in the Daily Beacon, courtesy of the Women's Coordinating Council.

Rockin' Womyn's Music Festival:

If you have not yet signed up to work the bake sale this Wednesday, please see Michael Malone for the sign-up sheet. The theme for the bake sale is "Valentines", so don't forget to decorate accordingly. If you do not have access to oven, you can come to Amy Davidson's apartment during the movie and use her oven.

Thanks to all the winning bidders last Friday night at the date auction. In total we raised $365, which brings us a few steps closer to preparing for the festival!

We will be having a "Goodwill Party" on Friday, February 22. The party will be held at 7021 White Ave. To comply with the theme, you must go to Goodwill and choose an outfit. Don't be afraid to use your imagination. For more information, please contact Andy Smith.

National Day of Silence

This committee will meet Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m. in the Starbucks at Hodges Library, directly after the SS Committee meeting.

Other Announcements

Gender Defiant will be meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m. They will be meeting in the Humanities Breezeway for those who are interested.

As part of the LGBT Commission's "Brown Bag Series", Dr. Gina Owens will speaking on Tuesday, February 12, at 12:40 p.m. She will be speaking in UC Room 237. Dr. Owens' speech is entitled, "Barriers to Mental Health Access for Sexual Minority Individuals".

Nominations for the LGBT Commission's Advocate, Student Leadership, and Ally Research Awards are due by Friday, February 15. The awards are given to recognize a faculty member, student, and researcher who have given considerable contributions to the LGBT community here on campus. The awards will be presented at the 2008 Chancellor's Honors Banquet. If you would like to find out more about these awards and learn how you can nominate someone you know, please visit http://lgbt.utk.edu/awards.html.

VOX (Voices for Planned Parenthood) will be giving out condoms on Thursday, February 14. If you are interested in helping out and would like more information, please contact Rachel LaRue.
