About Lambda

The Lambda Student Union was founded to provide a means of communication between gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexual, questioning, and straight students at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. We serve the area through various educational programs, social activities, and political actions. Our weekly meetings serve as a way of organizing and unifying our community to bring attention to issues which affect each of us -- regardless of our sexuality.

Lambda has general purpose meetings every Monday night at 7 pm in the University Center. These meetings are used to introduce new topics for the organization to discuss and provide reports on individual committees progress. Meetings usually last an hour and everyone is encourage to attend.

Lambda is involved with several community and campus events throughout the year. Dues, fundraisers, and funds from the University are used for various campus events to raise awareness about LBGTQ issues. If you are a regular member or if you plan on becoming one, we strongly encourage you to pay dues. Dues are $5 per semester which help fund social and political functions that Lambda members host/attend. This money helps us sponsor several events throughout the year, both drawing attention to relevant issues and allowing us to have a little fun on the side as well.
