Philanthropy is a very important aspect of Kappa Kappa
Gamma. We participate in many of the philanthropies on
campus and take part in many different community service
projects throughout the year.
Epsilon Lambda's Local Philanthropy:
March of Dimes
The March of Dimes is a non-profit organization dedicated to
help prevent premature birth defects and infant mortality. To
raise money and awareness, Kappa held our fifth annual Kappa-
Lympics event. This year, Kappa raised over
$6,000, which surpassed our goal that was set by
our chapter and the March of Dimes. In the fall Kappa was recognized
by the March of Dimes with the National Collegiate Award for
having raised the most money by a single collegiate organization
in the country! Walk America, which is the national
fundraising event for March of Dimes, was held on April 24th.
Our chapter had a wonderful time at this event! We have started a
new way to further our support of the March of Dimes by creating
Princess for a Day. This is were a group of our girls go to the
St. Jude's Hospital and play with the children, putting on make-up,
painting nails and doing their hair. It is just a way to put a smile
on these little childrens faces. Kappa has put so much effort into
supporting the March of Dimes and hopes to continue forward with all
the efforts. font>

Every
spring, we at Epsilon Lambda have our own philanthropy
event: Kappa-Lympics
Kappa-Lympics is a day of goofy field games such as dizzy bat,
tug o war, potato sack races, and volleyball, and a cookout out
follows the event. Each sorority and fraternity can enter teams
to participate. Every team has two Kappa coaches. There is one
sorority and one fraternity that take home the gold in Kappa-
lympics each year. The event takes place on Fuji Island in the
springtime. All the proceeds of the event go to our
Philanthropy, March of Dimes. This event has been such a huge
success that Kappa Gamma Nationals awarded “Best Philanthropy
Event” to our Epsilon Lambda chapter. |

Kappa
also participated in Dance Marathon, which benefited Tennessee
Children’s Hospital. The event is 24-hours of dancing and games.
This year over 50 girls from Kappa participated. Kappa Kappa Gamma
raised
$8,702.63!.
The sisters of Kappa Kappa Gamma would like to thank all the
participants in our first ever Kappa-Lympics. It was a huge
success and earned Epsilon Lambda chapter and National award
for the "Best Philanthropy Event".
Congratulations
to the 2004 Kappa-Lympic Gold Medallist:
