About the Farm Machinery Specialist / Vegetable Coordinator:

Jim Wills serves as the farm machinery specialist for the Agricultural Extension Service at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He is a professor in the Biosystems Engineering and Environmental Science Department. He also serves as the coordinator of vegetable research programs for the Knoxville Experiment Station.

Primary areas of expertise include:

* Agricultural Chemical Application Equipment

* Fuels and Lubricants for small and large engines

* No-Tillage and Conservation Tillage Equipment

* Small engine maintenance and repair for lawn and garden equipment

* Proper storage and handling of large round hay bales

*Ground preparation machinery for vegetable production

* Plastic mulches for vegetable production

* Harvest and handling machinery for vegetable production

* Coordination of vegetable research programs with other disciplines within the            Agricultural Experiment Station

* 4-H club projects in petroleum power (tractor, small engines, automotive)

* Farm machinery selection, operation, maintenance and storage
