Course description A comprehensive examination of the laws and regulations designed to preserve the safety, wholesomeness, and nutritional quality of the United States food supply. |
Objective
To develop an understanding of federal and state laws and regulations that apply to food products, the food industry, and other food handlers; to develop the ability to successfully search the Internet for food laws, regulations, and related topics.

Regular
exams: 14% each (x5) = 70%
Final exam: 10%
Class attendance and participation: 10%
Homework/assignments: 10%
Requirements of Graduate Students
In addition to regular class assignments, graduate students enrolled in FST490 will be required to present precedent legal cases and/or other legal actions pertinent to daily topics. Assignments will be made sufficiently in advance to allow for preparation.
