Submission guidelines

These are some general guidelines for submitting a letter to the editor:

  • Include your full name and contact information. For legal reasons, the publication must confirm the identity of every letter writer. Ask permission from an adult before giving any personally identifiable information. Read more Internet safety tips.
  • If you don't want your name published, attach a short note requesting anonymity. Some publications have strict policies against publishing anonymous letters; other publications will honor your request after confirming your identity.
  • Send your letter to one publication only. Most newspapers and magazines will not publish your writing if there is a chance it will be published elsewhere.
  • Observe word limits (200 words or less).

Read how to send a letter to the editor at the Knoxville News Sentinel web site.
