Computer help

Adjusting auto-correct (for poets only)

When writing poetry with a word processor, you may want to turn off all auto-correct functions so the computer does not make annoying changes to your manuscripts, such as capitalizing the first letter of every line. Follow these steps to turn off Auto Correct:

  • With your document open, click AutoCorrect under the Tools drop-down menu.
  • Click Options and then clear the check boxes for the AutoCorrect buttons you wish to disable.
  • Make sure to clear the Replace text as you type check box.
  • Note: to turn off automatic spell checking, go the Tools menu, click Options, and on the Spelling & Grammar tab, make sure to clear the check box for Check spelling as you type. Return to your document and compose your draft.
  • In the absence of automated spell checking, you must remember to conduct a manual spell check!
