AboutIf you are an ambitious author who wants to pursue writing beyond high school, you should consider The Claremont Review, a print-based literary magazine that publishes twice annually. Its companion web site features selected passages from previous editions as well as success stories. Many contributors to the magazine, which started in 1991, have gone on to win prestigious prizes and pursue degrees in the field of creative writing. As the web site says, “We take serious writers seriously.” Visit The Claremont Review home page to learn more. Submission guidelinesThe all-volunteer editorial staff at The Claremont Review looks for “first class” submissions of poetry and short stories on a variety of subjects. They prefer pieces that describe everyday people reacting and coping to everyday events, sometimes referred to as writing about the human condition. The Claremont Review does not publish rhyming poetry, science fiction, fantasy, or romance stories. The editors recommend you read passages from past issues to get a sense of the kind of writing they prefer. If you are submitting to The Claremont Review for the first time, you should read the complete submission guidelines. Here are some important reminders:
