Changes to Tenure Data
Effective August 31, 2009, changes have been implemented in how tenure data is recorded in the IRIS system. The changes were designed by a committee of representatives from all UT campuses. All tenured employees now have an additional tenure record with updated information with a start date of 8/1/2009.
The primary change in capturing tenure data is that Academic Discipline will now be supported by the 6-digit Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) codes. The CIP codes that are available are those for academic disciplines available at UT and approved by THEC.
The tenure data is displayed in IRIS transaction PA20. To view the tenure information, you would click on the Tenure/Edu tab and then select the Tenure category. The available CIP codes are identified by campus and can be viewed on the tenure screen by using the matchcode help on the Academic Discipline field.
Tenure records for active employees have been updated based upon input provided by their campus representatives. The tenure data of terminated employees was not updated. The PA20 Tenure screen will show changes only to those records with start dates on or after 8/1/2009. Previous records with a start date prior to 8/1/2009 have not been changed.
New forms need to be used for New Hire and Personnel Change actions and are available from this website. The new versions are dated 8/28/2009. If you have downloaded and saved old versions of these forms, please discard them. The new forms use the new scheme of the CIP codes for Academic Discipline. If your department has a standard code that you have been using, you will need to use the matchcode help on the Academic Discipline field on the PA20 Tenure screen to find the new code.
In addition to the Academic Discipline code, there have been
some updates to fields such as Location, College, and
Department for consistency with other IRIS modules. You may
notice these differences if you compare previous tenure
records with the updated versions. There has been no
change to the following fields:
- Tenure Status
- Tenure Date
- Tenure Review Date
- Academic Rank
- Academic Rank Date
- Full Time at Other Institutions
- Professional
- Current Rank at Other Institutions
- Academic Experience at UT
