On Wednesday, November 7, from 6 – 8 pm, we will be screening an Iranian movie “A Separation” . This movie is set in contemporary Iran. A Separation is a compelling drama about the ending of a marriage.It starts with a wife wanting to leave Iran with her husband Nader and daughter Termeh. Simin sues for divorce when Nader refuses to leave behind his Alzheimer-suffering father. Snacks will be provided. Place: Great Room @ I-House, Cost: FREE.
International House presents Persian Cooking demonstration on November 6, 2012 from 6 – 8 pm. Come join us to learn how to cook Mirza Ghasemi, which is made from fried aubergine (eggplant), egg, garlic, and tomato. It is an item normally served as a light lunch, appetizer or side. Place: Great Room @ I-House, Cost: FREE!!!
To kick off the Persia week from November 5-8, on Monday, November 5th, we are going have a lecture by Mostafa Ghafoori Varzaneh, who is going to talk about his experiences in Iran as a student. He is also going to talk about the students movements in Iran. Admission: Free. Snacks will be provided. Place: Great Room @ I-House. Time: 7-8 pm
It’s the time of year for the annual International Festival that is organized by the UT International House! This year, the festival is at an even more convenient location: the Pedestrian Walkway!
At the festival, UT student groups will be hosting booths representing over 20 countries and selling cultural cuisine, arts and crafts. You can also get information on study abroad opportunities there!
Moreover, we will have live cultural performances from 11am all the way till 3pm!
For those of you who have been to our festival, we know you all are going “Hoooorayyyyy” seeing this reminder. And those of you who haven’t been, you don’t want to keep missing it anymore!
