Geoff Kenney


Geoff is from the southeastern United States, having lived in many different areas of North Carolina, South Carolina, and now Tennessee. He is currently pursuing his Master's Degree in political science. Geoff loves to cook and eat, and loves to learn about other people's culture through food. He hopes to be able to eat his way around the world someday. In addition to liking food, Geoff also enjoys music and all sports, but especially soccer.

Fleurette Sambira

Fleurette is from Burundi. She has been in the US for about 6 years now. She is working as a graduate assistant at the International House. She received her undergraduate degree in Microbiology here at UT. She is currently pursuing her MPH(Master of Public Health) with a concentration in Community Health Education. She wants to work with under-represented population in developing countries by improving their health status.

She enjoys watching movies, listening to music, and meeting people from different backgrounds. She encourages new students to ask questions and to take part in different activities that are happening on campus: that's a good way to make friends and network.

DJ Baker

If you ask DJ Baker where he is from he will quickly respond, "EVERYWHERE." Having lived in so many places, this self-proclaimed nomad doesn't really call anywhere home.

With an extreme passion to save the world and motivate/serve students, DJ is trying to impact the world, ONE POSITIVE ENCOUNTER AT A TIME.

DJ is a PhD student in the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies. His major is Higher Education with a cognate in Student Affairs Leadership and Organizational Communication.

DJ received his Masters in Business Administration from Delaware State University. He received his undergraduate degree in Marketing & Management from Fort Valley State University.

His main focus in life is to travel the world and motivate people to be the change that the world needs and not wait on others to do so.

His message to all students:
(1) "Every second, every minute, every hour counts; so don't waste it! There is no rewind button in life, but what you do today, can truly affect tomorrow."
(2) "SUCCESS is not measured by what YOU have done for YOU, but what YOU have EMPOWERED others to do through what YOU say and do."

Lee Rhea

Lee Rhea is an Assistant Director of the Center for International Education and is in charge of the International House and is responsible for the International Programming at the I-House and C.I.E. He is originally from Indiana, but has lived in many parts of the U.S. and has also lived in Japan. His wife is Japanese and is originally from Nagasaki.

Lee really enjoys working at the I-House and likes meeting all of the interesting people from the U.S. and around the world. No matter what part of the world or the U.S. you come from, he hopes you will make the I-House your home away from home while at U.T. We have much to learn from each other.

Carol O'Brien

Carol is is originally from New York, but she has been living in Tennessee for several years. Carol knows the Knoxville area very well and knows alot about the "culture" here at UT. She has been working at the International House as a Program Resource Specialist for over 15 years.

She helps out the I-House staff and tries to keep things running smoothly for everyone who works and comes to the I-House. Her office is located next to the computer lab. Stop by to say "Hello" sometime.

Laura Stetler

Laura is from a small town in Pennsylvania called Mechanicsburg, close to the capital, Harrisburg. This is her second semester working for the I-House and her third semester as a graduate student at UT.

Before coming to UT, Laura received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Delaware. She is now pursuing a Master's in College Student Personnel and hopes to graduate in May 2008. Laura looks forward to continuing to gain wonderful experiences through working at the I-House!
