Conversation Series Kick-off, Tuesday September 18, 2007 Featuring Anna Awimbo
Its time once again to kick-off our Fall debut of our Conversations About World Affairs Series. The International House would like to cordially invite you to join us for this program featuring Anna Awimbo, Research Director of the Microcredit Summit Campaign, the largest global network of institutions involved in microfinance. She will be enlightening us with the importance of Microfinancing in the beautiful continent of Africa.
Now, I know you may be wondering: Who is Anna Awimbo? What is Microfinancing? and Why is it so important in Africa? These are all great questions but to obtain the answers you don’t want to miss this program.
The program will take place, Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at 7pm in the International House Great Room. Ms. Awimbo has more than 10 years of experience working on women’s and youth issues to help identify alternative strategies for poverty alleviation. She speaks frequently at international and national conferences including the annual UN Global Youth Assembly.
Ms. Awimbo is a co-editor of the book, More Pathways out of Poverty, which explores new and revolutionary practices in microfinance and illustrates the challenges involved in lifting clients out of poverty.
