Freedom of the Press in Russia
Americans have a lot of freedom when it comes to what they can say in virtually all forms of media. This is not the case in all countries. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a journalist in Russia? What sorts of restrictions do they have on what they can say or write? As Russia is in the process of reinventing itself, what place does journalism have in the new Russia? Details are as follows:
Who: Dr. Ivan Zassoursky, speaking on "Freedom of the Press in Russia." Dr.Zassoursky, is currently the head of Convergence Lab, as well as Faculty of Journalism at Moscow State University.
What: Conversations about World Affairs, a visiting lecture series co-sponsored by Ready for the World and the International House
Where: International House Great Room
When: Monday, April 9, 7pm
Why: This will be a great opportunity to learn about journalism and freedom of the press in Russia, as well as to learn more about Russian culture and geography.
