Ice Vols Roster Announced!
September 25, 2009 – After tryouts and training camp, the Tennessee Ice Vols are proud to announce the 30-man roster, putting the 2009-2010 season one step closer to getting underway.
The roster includes 11 seniors returning for the Ice Vols, including left winger Kevin Jones and goalie Joe Gauvin. Amin Elaguizy, Rob Goldsmith and Taylor Yoakley add senior leadership to the blue line behind forwards Isreal Ceja, Chris Williams and Doanld Williams.
Ryan Prater, Daniel Yoder and Evan Marroni add junior leadership to the team that fill out a roster with 14 freshman and sophomores.
The Ice Vols also have a transfer from South Carolina, Sean Strauch who enters Tennessee Graduate School.
Ice Vol Profile - It's A Family Thing, Williams Style
September 16, 2009 – This season for the Ice Vols will start a new chapter in the Williams family legacy with the Tennessee Ice Vols hockey program. In the 2009-2010 season, the fourth son of parents Skip and Anne Williams, Pete, will be donning the orange and white on the ice.
Pete, 18, will join older brother Donald, 21, on the ice this fall, keeping brothers on the ice since the 2005-2006 season. Pete comes to the Ice Vols a season after Joe, 23, departs the club as possibly the greatest player to ever skate on the ice for Tennessee.
Joe Williams leaves Tennessee holding 8 team records as well as owning two ACHA South Region Player of the Year Awards and two appearances on the All-America team.
Donald and Joe had the privelage of playing on the same line with eldest brother Matt, 24, in the 2006-2007 season.
In total, the Williams brothers have combined for nearly 400 points and the number is sure to rise over the next four years.
Vols 2009-2010 Season Approaching Fast
September 14, 2009 – The 2009-2010 ACHA season officially started this past weekend. Arkansas kicked off the SECHC season as well, trading wins with Division 2 Kansas.
The Ice Vols season opener is closing quickly, only 17 days away. Tennessee will host the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles on Thursday, October 1 in a season opening series that also includes Davenport University.
Florida Gulf Coast and Davenport University will play Friday, October 2 before the weekend concludes with Tennessee hosting Davenport on Saturday, October 3.
All Games will be held at the Cool Sports IceArium in West Knoxville. The game between Tennessee and Florida Gulf Coast will be at 8:40 p.m. while the other two games are scheduled for 9:40 p.m.

Orange Win Alumni Game Over White 8-6
September 11, 2009 – The Tennessee Ice Vols alumni game was a huge sucess friday night as over 40 alumni made appearences at the IceArium. In the least important statistic of the night, Team Orange defeated Team White 8-6 in a thriller that wasn't decided until late.
Alex Skaalerud scored the game winning goal for the Orange and John Sturgeon added an empty net goal to seal the game. BJ Keyes made 39 saves on the night, ironically matching the number he wore for 4 seasons with the Ice Vols.
For their efforts, Sturgeon and Keyes were awarded Co-Most Valuable Players of the Game.
Brad Holt and Matt Williams also had a goal and a pair of assists each.

Ice Vol Profile - Head Coach Steve Durrigan
September 6, 2009 – Coach Durrigan is entering his fifth season as the head coach of Tennessee. Since Durrigan came into the coaching scene in Knoxville, the Ice Vols have been one of the most dominant teams in the ACHA DIII South Region and across the nation (88-27-3, .746).
Durrigan made his first big bang with the Ice Vols in the 2005-2006 season when he set a Tennessee all-time mark for best record in his first season of coaching. Durrigan coached the Ice Vols to an 18-6-0 record and an Southeastern Collegiate Hockey Conference Regular Season Championship.
Every year since then, Durrigan has led the team to the National Tournament. In 2006-07, Durrigan set another milestone mark with the most wins in a single season at 26. The Ice Vols again won the SECHC Regular Season Championship and earned the top seed out of the South Region.
In 2007-08, Durrigan picked up his second of three 20-win seasons with Tennessee and an 8th place finish at the ACHA National Tournament. Last season, he led the team to the Inagural SECHC Tournament Championship.
