Ice Vols Lose Lead and Game in Tournament Finals
November 22, 2009 - Tennessee came out to play Sunday afternoon in North Carolina's Sapikowski Memorial Tournament Championship Game.
The Ice Vols took on No. 3 Loyola (MD) in the finals and were able to gain a 2-1 lead despite playing two games on Saturday, in which they lost the goals and points leades Robert Banks to injury.
However, as proved in the rankings, Loyola (MD) proved to be just a little better than Tennessee, coming back to take the lead and a narrow win, 3-2.

Ice Vols Lose In OT, Still Advance to Finals
November 21, 2009 - The Tennessee Ice Vols fell in overtime to Christopher Newport Saturday evening in overtime 5-4. A long day for Tennessee fell short of the desired result, but the Ice Vols will still play for the Sapikowski Memorial Tournament Championship on Sunday.
With the OT loss, Tennessee's record in Pool B was 1-0-1, which was better than the records of Alabama (1-1-0) and CNU (1-1-0). Therefore, Tennessee will advance to the finals and play the winner from Pool A, Loyola (MD). Loyola is currently ranked No. 3, one position ahead of Tennessee in the most recent ACHA South Coaches' Poll.
Ice Vols Win Opener At UNC Tournament
November 21, 2009 - The Tennessee Ice Vols won their opening game of the Sapikowski Memorial Tournament Saturday morning, defeating Alabama 5-2. The win comes with a price as star-freshman Robert banks imjured his shoulder and is likely out today and possibly the rest of the tournament.
The Ice Vols will now play Christopher Newport later today in the second of two preliminary games in Pool B. CNU lost to Alabama 3-2 yesterday in their opening game of the tournament.

Senior Kevin Jones Now 2nd All-Time for UT Points
November 16, 2009 - With five goals and three assists this weekend, Kevin Jones now sits alone in second place on Tennessee's all-time scoring list.
The active points leader for the Ice Vols entered the weekend with 209 points and fourth on the list. With an eight-point performance against Georgia and Georgia Tech, Jones (217 points) moved passed UT greats Jon Benner (213) and Preston Dixon (215).
While Jones may not reach last-year senior Joe WIlliams (301), his accomplishments and career will go down as some of Tennessee's best ever in 44 years of hockey and be a a high standard set for many years in the future. Congratulations on the milestone Kevin!
Jones was also honored as HockeyYall.com's player of the week for his efforts this past weekend.
