The win secures Tennessee a spot in the finals, and they will face Georgia for the trophy as the Bulldogs secured their spot with a victory over South Carolina.

On Friday night Tennessee got off to a slow start only leading #9 Christopher Newport University 2-0 after 20 minutes, but sent the Captains out to sea for good after a 5-1 lead heading into the third period. The game finished 8-2 in favor of Tennessee, highly in thanks to CNU’s lack of discipline as over half of the Volunteers’ goals came with the man advantage. Then on Saturday night, with #3 Central Florida – who narrowly escaped past George Washington University in the final minute – securing the third seed from the South Region, Tennessee was able to secure the fourth and final seed after defeating #5 Eastern Carolina University. Tennessee’s offence got off to a quick start scoring two goals in the first minute, and proved to be too strong for the pesky Pirates as they exploded for nine goals in the final two periods on way to a 13-7 victory.
