WHAT HAVE I LEARNED THIS SEMESTER?

I have learned that typography is like poetry.

I have come to trust (or at least consider) design decisions that I make quickly and intuitively.

I have re-discovered that there is appeal in my contour drawings.

I have learned how to work collaboratively as a designer and as a curator.

I have realized that when I design, sometimes I use my left-brain processes (as I do when I write) while other times I use my right-brain processes (as I do when I paint). Currently, I tend to rely more on the former than the latter, so I am striving for more balance and variation in my ways of working.

I have begun to consider time as a dimension in design. Not only have I made my first foray into video, but I have also discovered that I enjoy figuring out how to create organization and sequencing in print and on screen.

I have taken up the habit of carrying my digital camera with me often. I have already found applications for these random photographs in several assignments.
