Helpful Writing and Editing Sources on the Internet
www.dictionary.com – This web site is an easy to use online dictionary.  Simply enter the word and instantly get all definitions, pronunciation, and word origin.  It also works in the same way as a thesaurus.  Another reason to visit the site is that it gives links to other resourceful sites about grammar, usage, and style.

 www.englishplus.com/grammar/index.htm – Otherwise known as the “grammar slammer” page, this web site does just what it suggests.  Information is quick access and easy to understand.  The information also spans from style, usage, and grammar, to capitalization, abbreviation, and letter writing.  In addition, other useful web sites about language are presented as links.

 www.sharpwriter.com – This web site is useful in that it gives a complete list and description of resources to improve all elements of writing from style to publishing to grammar.  Although the sources are printed sources to buy or check out at a library, this page gives you the details about the sources that might be most helpful in your writing endeavors.  

 www.acronymfinder.com – This easily searchable database contains thousands of acronyms and their many meanings, including slang meanings.  The site covers common acronyms, computers, technology, government, telecommunications, and military acronyms.

 www.ccc.commnet.edu/grammar – This site is an easy to use guide to grammar and writing.  What makes it unique and very helpful are the easy drop boxes for word and sentence level info., paragraph level info., and even essay and research paper level info.  It also includes grammar quizzes, search devices, and downloadable power point files about various writing topics. 

 www.grammarbook.com – This site is an excellent resource for rules and hints about almost every aspect of writing.  It also has exercises and tests with answers and provides several other helpful writing links.
