Scope

Application of neutron diffraction in engineering materials characterization becomes increasingly prevalent due to its unique ability to provide microscopic insights to the mechanical behavior of advanced materials and components. This is our 2nd announcement and call for papers of a symposium on neutron diffraction characterization of mechanical behavior of alloys, ceramics, and their composites. The symposium will be held at the 134th TMS annual meeting to provide an international forum for the presentation and discussion of recent experimental and modeling results. Specific topics will include:

The symposium is intended to bring together neutron diffraction scientists and potential users to further enhance the neutron diffraction research activities.

Abstract Submission

Submit abstracts to http://cms.tms.org by July 15, 2004. We are exploring a possibility of publishing both invited and contributed papers in a special journal volume of the "Materials Science and Engineering A" after the conference. More details on publication schedule will be available soon. Abstract submission instructions and other information can be found at http://www.tms.org/Meetings/Annual-05/AnnMtg05Home.html

Venue

The conference will be held at the Moscone Center (http://www.moscone.com/) in San Francisco, California, USA. The San Francisco Marriott (http://www.sfmarriott.com/) is the TMS headquarters hotel. Special conference rates have been contracted with this hotel and others in the area surrounding the Moscone Center.
