How Do You Evaluate the CHIPS Lab?



Preliminaries

  • Convenience sample - Fridays, Fall 1999
  • Human Subjects Review - voluntary, anonymous
  • Simple questionnaire
    • Demographics - age, sex
    • How do they learn about the lab?
    • Where do they come from?
    • What are the information needs?
    • Are they satisfied?

Results

  • Age: clumps for both sexes in 20s and 70s
  • In the above categories, males in the first, females in the second
  • Primarily Knox county
  • Primarily walk-ins
  • Uses: research, e-mail, games
  • Subjects: Medical, geneaology, history, news

Implications

  • Classes taught - subject searching, specific subjects
  • Marketing - service area
  • Userful in general, reaching seniors
