These data concern full-time faculty at this rank. 2000 comments: This population crosses 200 (204) for the first time since this study began. This is an increase over the past year of 12 (6%), the same as the year before. The number of members, however, dropped by 11 individuals to 71. This means that about one-third of the population (35%) are served by the Association. Note on the chart the steady declines from 1991, and 1995, yet the rise in the total population, particularly since 1996. Schools are growing in this rank, but memberships do not reflect that. 1999 comments: The number of Assistant Professors increased by 11 to 192 (6 %), but the number of members declined by 2. Less than half (43%) of this category of faculty are served by the association. The highest percentage served during this period of study was 66%, in 1991. 1998 comments: The number of Assistant Professor members increased by one, from 83 to 84 (1%). The number of non-members also increased by two, from 95 to 97 (2%). The total population thusly increased from 178 to 181 (2%). Note that less than half of the available market (46%) is served in 1998. |
