1998 comments: In 1998, fewer than half (46%) of all full-time assistant professors were members of ALISE: in 1991, 66% were members. For associate professors, 53% are served, compared to the height for this group in 1991 of 63%. For full professors, the year saw an increase from 61% to 65%, which is still lower than the period's high in 1993 of 73%.
