Applications and Forms

» jump directly to applications

Application for study abroad may be submitted at any time for an upcoming study abroad program.  We strongly encourage interested participants to apply early and certainly by the priority deadline as many programs fill up.

The priority deadline for individual Short Term Faculty Led Programs (generally during Spring Break, Mini-session, Summer I and Summer II) is posted here.  You may complete a faculty led program application on your own (see below) or, if you are unsure of which program is the right one for you, please contact the PAO for an advising appointment.

Semester-long study abroad programs may require two different applications, one for UTK and a second one for the host institution or organization.  Before completing an application for a semester program, you will need to make an appointment and meet with one of the PAO's Program Coordinators to discuss your plans.

Requirements for study abroad participation vary according to the program.  For semester long UT and ISEP programs, a participant should:

  • Be currently enrolled as a full-time UT student.
  • Have the minimum GPA: Short term faculty led (2.0 or determined by faculty); ISEP semester programs (2.75); UTK semester programs (varies by host institution, check specific information).
  • Have successfully completed two full semesters (e.g. Freshmen year by the beginning of the program)  or, one full semester at UT for transfer students.
  • Clear Judicial Affairs record.

Application deadlines:

Spring break, mini-session, summer session UTK faculty led programs:

  • January (dates vary depending on program)

Fall term abroad or full academic year:

  • January 15th for ISEP programs
  • March 1st for UTK   programs

Spring term abroad (and southern hemisphere academic year)

  • August 15 for ISEP programs
  • October 1 for UTK programs
