Editorial Policy

Editorial Focus: Improvement and promotion of German teaching in the United States at all instructional levels.

Types of submissions: Pedagogical articles, reports, news, discussions, teaching tips.

Manuscript length: Articles: up to 15 pages (ca. 3,500 words). Shorter manuscripts very much welcomed. Tipps: 1 page (ca. 300 words).

Languages of Publication: English or German.

Single submission: Manuscripts submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere can not be considered. Manuscripts that have been submitted, accepted, or published elsewhere, including on the World Wide Web, cannot be published in UP.

Evaluation of manuscripts: Articles are evaluated anonymously by a minimum of two expert readers.

Copyright permissions: If permission for reproducing copyrighted material is required, the author should submit such permission with the final copy submitted for typesetting. Copyright or permission fees are the responsibility of the author.

Average time between submission and publication decision: Four months.

Average time between publication decision and actual publication: Usually less than one year.

Average time between submission and publication decision: Four months.

Number of articles published per year: 25-35.

Number of book, software, video reviews: 40-50.

Circulation (membership and library subscriptions): 5,000.

Average rate of acceptance: 10%.

Copyright ownership: AATG.

Electronic publishing policy: Media reviews and article abstracts will be published on-line shortly following the mailing of the journal to subscribers. Articles will be available on-line (for a fee) at a later date. All substantive contributions (articles and reviews) will be made available on CD within the next few years.

Complimentary copies (and offprints) of Articles: Two. Additional copies available at cost. Must be ordered at the time galley proofs are received.

Payment: Authors are not paid for their contributions.
