Transatlantic Summer Academy

For the past several years, the University of Bonn Nordamerikaprogramm, under the direction of Prof. Lothar Hönnighausen, has run a seminar on European and German political and economic affairs for advanced students under the title Transatlantic Summer Academy. Since the inception of this program, UT has been fortunate to have participants take part with students from all over the world. This past year's seminar was highlighted by an extended visit of the group with Helmut Kohl, Germany's longest governing Chancellor.

The progam for summer 2000 focuses on the theme "Europe Facing the 21th Century: Defining Central Issues" and will take place in Bonn, Germany from June 25th to July 22nd.

If you are interested in this year's academy, there will be an informational meeting on Friday, February 18th, at 12noon in the International House. Contact Dr. Jan Allen, Associate Dean of the Graduate School, for more information.

Application packets will be available February 1st in 404 Andy Holt Tower. Fellowships (including tuition, room, board, and transportation) are provided by the Office of the Provost and The Graduate School.
