Grading

Grades in 415 will be based on point totals accumulated over the semester.

Exams - Max of 160 points (lowest Exam grade dropped) - each exam worth 80 points

In-Class exercises, assignments, quizzes, participation, and group work - Max of 50 points

Outside events - Max of 30 points (points beyond 30 will be recorded and taken into account in borderline situations)

Paper - Max of 60 points (A 'C' paper is worth 40 points)

Above does not include any extra credit points

Letter grades are based on 300 points.

The minimum points needed to get specific grades are as follows:

A  > 275 points

A- > 265

B+ > 250

B   > 240

B-  > 230

C+ > 215

C   > 205

C-  > 190

D   > 175

These may be adjusted downwards but never upwards. That is, the points needed for the upper grades, especially, may be less than these. It is unlikely that the C and D point totals will be lowered.

Where do I stand?

Check Black Board or send me an e-mail and to get point totals for you as we have them recorded. I encourage you to do this to make sure no recording errors have occurred and b) to help you judge whether you need to take the final exam.

If after the first two exams and other work you have less than 120 points, you should be VERY concerned.

Please see me with any questions.
