WBZ's BOB KENNEDY invites you to:
WIN A FABULOUS SKI WEEKEND
For Details, tune to Radio 103!!
The WBZ Radio "Hit Parade" represents the judgment of WBZ's record
selection committee
as to the relative popularity of current recordings in the Boston
area and is conditioned by such
factors as industry tabulations and local record sales.
MY NOTES:
RE- chart re-entry
Debuting at #23 is SWEET MARIA by Billy Vaughn Singers (song title misprinted
on original survey). It's
a little mindboggling to see a big city pop station play an odd MOR
song like this, especially since it was a flop nationally.
And what's most suprising is that this song sticks around for
several weeks, eventually peaking at #13 at WBZ!!!
And at #27 is IF I WERE A RICH MAN by Herschel Bernardi. I
assume this was the same song from the play "Fiddler
On The Roof" which was popular around this period. Never knew
that this was released as a commercial single (if not, it's
certainly another "odd" song to be played on a pop station!). One
sure thing
to say is that folks in Boston have eclectic
tastes in music. Most other similarly dated surveys around the
country do not have a playlist looking anything like this.
