The Sunflower

Why did an American plant become the favorite light snack of the Russians? How did the Jerusalem Artichoke gets its thoroughly inappropriate name (it is neither an artichoke nor does it have any connection to the Holy City). Is sunflower oil healthier than other choices? These are a few of the topics that will be covered in a discussion of the biology and history of the only crop domesticated in North America that has become of global importance for agriculture.

This seminar is tentatively scheduled to meet during First Session on TR from 2;10 pm - 3:00 pm.

Note: Please check the official timetable for the most up-to-date information about meeting times and locations and availability.
