CSI Knoxville -- 1919
Race riots erupted in both Northern and Southern cities during 1919, all of which were started by whites. The arrest of Maurice Mays, a mulatto restaurateur and deputy sheriff, triggered Knoxville's riot. Knoxville politicians were astonished when blacks fought back. The National Guard was called to Knoxville to join the white mobs. We will investigate the crime and subsequent conviction that ended with Mays' execution. Many believed that Mays was innocent.
