A Rising China: Myth and Reality
China is a rising superpower. What kind of superpower will China be on the world stage? Will a superpower China be a friend or foe of the United States? Will China’s rising military expenditure threaten U.S. security? How will China’s rise affect its relations with its neighbors such as Japan and South Korea (two traditional U.S. allies)? How do China’s neighboring countries perceive China’s rise? The emphasis of the class will be on understanding Chinese culture and behavior. We will also try to answer the above questions by looking at Chinese political history, political structure, military, economy and foreign policy orientation.
This seminar is tentatively scheduled to meet during Full Session on T from 12:40 pm - 1:30 pm.
Note: Please check the official timetable for the most up-to-date information about meeting times and locations and availability.
