To help stakeholders better understand the scheduled meetings, short summaries are provided below: *On August 22, EPA's Office of Pesticide Programs will hold a Technical Briefing to discuss general issues related to cumulative risk assessment methods and the current status of the work on the organophosphate cumulative risk assessment. This will be held at the Hilton Alexandria Old Town, 1767 King Street, Alexandria, Virginia (across from King Street Metro Station), from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The agenda for the meeting is available on OPP's Web Site at www.epa.gov/pesticides under "meetings." *On August 23, EPA will hold a public meeting of a Work Group to the Committee to Advise on Reassessment and Transition (CARAT). This Work Group is focused on the Cumulative Risk Assessment Public Participation Process. Limited public seating will be available on a first-come basis. This meeting will be held at EPA's offices in Room 1110 (The Fishbowl), 1921 Jefferson Davis Highway, Crystal Mall, #2, Arlington, Virginia (Crystal City Metro Station) on August 23, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. This meeting is part of an ongoing multi-year project to develop a cumulative risk framework to use across EPA. This meeting is intended to discuss cumulative risk in a broader context (aggregate and cumulative exposure from many sources, chemical mixtures, socioeconomic vulnerability, etc.). This workshop will be held each day from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm at the Marriott Crystal Gateway Hotel, 1700 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, VA 22202. Information on the meeting was published in the August 10 Federal Register and is available on-line at: http://www.epa.gov/EPA-MEETINGS/2001/August/Day-10/m20128.htm. ************************************************* EPA distributes its Pesticide Program Updates to external stakeholders and citizens who have expressed an interest in OPP activities and decisions.
