PCNB Fungicide-Request for Information

This is a request for information is being forwarded from Steve Toth Note the following request for information on the need of PCNB seed treatment for barley, peas, rice and soybeans. If this is an important use in your state/territory, we need to let OPMP know immediately. Please circulate and send any responses as soon as possible.

    Thanks.

    Darrell Hensley

    ----------------------------------------

PCNB, a foliar and seed treatment fungicide, is currently undergoing review at EPA. We thought the seed treatment uses were safe, but the main registrant, Chemtura, is considering dropping the PCNB seed treatment uses for barley, peas, rice and soybeans due to residue chemistry costs.

In order to have an impact on the decision by EPA and the registrant to cancel certain seed treatment crops, we need to respond, at least generally, within a week or so.

    The basic questions are:

Is PCNB and important seed treatment fungicide on barley, peas, rice , or soybeans in your state? If so, why? Can you estimate the use of any important PCNB seed treatments on these crops in your state?

Please only respond if seed treatment with PCNB is important on one of these crops in your state.

Thanks for your consideration of this development.
