Welcome to Entomology and Plant Pathology
The Entomology and Plant Pathology Department provides
educational information about insect pests and plant diseases. This
information is provided for field crops (corn, cotton, soybeans,
wheat, forages, tobacco and other small grains), commercial
horticultural crops (vegetables, fruits, woody ornamentals, turf and
flowers). Assays of fescue samples for the fungal endophyte and of
soil samples for plant parasitic nematodes are made. Structural, household, Fire ant, lawn and garden pest management assistance is
provided, as well as management of honeybees and control of diseases
and mites that attack them.
Other on-going programs include, Cooperative Agricultural Pest
Survey (CAPS), Integrated Pest Management (IPM), Pest Management
Information Network, Tennessee's Plant Pest Surveillance Network, Pesticide Safety Education Program (PSEP) commonly
called pesticide certification training, Worker Protection Standard
(WPS) and Distance Diagnostics are
provided by the Entomology and Plant Pathology Department.
