Tennessee Equestrian Competes at Sewanee. Several Riders Qualify for Regionals.

Sewanee, TN- The University of Tennessee Equestrian Team opened up the 2009-2010 season at the hunt seat show at The University of the South. The team had a productive weekend, with two riders pointing out of their respective divisions and several new riders earning ribbons in their show debuts.
 
In individual competition, day 1, four riders had top 3 finishes. Dana Zeitlin finished 2nd in Intermediate over fences, J.D White placed 2nd in his Novice fences debut, Kelli Whitman pinned 3rd in Intermediate flat, and Caroline Ellis placed 2nd in Advanced Walk-Trot-Canter. In addition, Laura Brown placed 5th in Novice fences and qualified for regionals in that division.
 
On day 2, despite the rain and cold, UT had 2 blue ribbons. Kelli Whitman earned a 1st in Intermediate flat and Laura Brown won the Novice flat division. In addition Izabela Van Deest and Caroline Ellis both pinned 2nd in Advanced Walk-Trot-Canter, with Caroline Ellis qualifying for regionals.
 
The UT Equestrian Team would like to thank the University of the South for hosting such a great show. UT next competes hunt seat on October 24-25 at Maryville College.
